8 Gwendolen Avenue

In January 2013, Tom and Alison Moran found a grainy picture of a pretty but dilapidated Edwardian villa on the internet.  The estate agent details described the property as ‘totally un-modernised offering the opportunity to create a wonderful family home’ and they decided it was perfect!

Gwendolen Avenue in Putney was laid out in 1887 as part of the wider Putney Hill Park estate. Much of the area was built by just two developers, W. R. Williams and James Tozer. With its rich palette of materials, including brick, stone and distinctive tile hanging, No. 8 displays a more Arts and Crafts sensibility, a style preferred by James Tozer.  .
